Something I've noticed in some verbs: "prefixes" у-, в- don't change the meaning of the verb, but have to do with the ending of the preceding word, using у- after consonants or at the beginning of a clause and в- after vowels, at least according to Wiktionary. But perhaps they technically are not "prefixes", in that they do not change the meaning of the verb.

I think this verb is cool because it seems like most of the meanings have to do with taking something apart (e.g. unpacking a suitcase), but if you are talking about a fire, it means to build and start it: Коли чорні хмари сонце закривають//Я ватру розкладаю (Zwyntar) When black clouds block the sun, I build a bonfire

Is there any source for determining the different aspects of a verb? In other words, if I look up a verb in perfective aspect, is there a way of finding the imperfection counterpart to it, or of finding out if a verb only exists in one aspect? Also, does Ukrainian allow users to simply make up a verb using the methods set out in the video? That seems unlikely to me, hence my first question. (I don't think a language would be very useful it people could just make up verbs whenever they wanted.)

I've been looking for a video on this topic. It's hard to find any material on-line that explains the difference in any meaningful way.
